"THE INTERIORS” collection — Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2017
New horizons in fashion
Inevitable. We’re talking about the collaboration between Melinda Looi & Epson Malaysia for the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) 2017 was a pair-up that was bound to happen. One, is an iconic, award-winning and perhaps one of the most influential fashion designers in Malaysia who is no stranger to using technologies like 3D printing and e-textile for fashion. While the other, is a world leader in digital imaging and printing solutions.
Her “THE INTERIORS” collection draws inspiration from the curation of interior spaces infused with an eclectic mix of textures, patterns and colours. Digitally-printed textiles didn’t come as surprise at all to Melinda because of the industry’s ‘see now, buy now’ characteristic. “We do not have to print thousands of metres of fabric, only what is needed, when it is needed. In fact, I am most impressed with the quality of prints by Epson’s digital textile dye-sublimation printers, which is very clear, beautiful and durable on a wide range of textiles and surfaces we tried on.”
