Toi the Dressmaker (a label line
from Zang Toi)
“Toi the Dressmaker” Spring/Summer’17 collection: Wayang kulit on taffeta—Malaysia Fashion Week 2016
Tradition Meets State-of-the-Art
Had Toi went with traditional silkscreen printing, a costly and labour-intensive process that’s usually bogged down by minimum yardage requirements, it would’ve been weeks before he could see the first draft of Wayang kulit designs on taffeta collection. Epson’s ability to print on a variety of fabrics, on remarkably short runs, also sends out a clear message to all designers that they no longer have to hold back on creativity!
Interestingly, Toi’s life-like wayang kulit motifs were able to show subtle specks of gold against a very similar hue of vivid ochre, credit to Epson. The uncompromising attention to detail was made possible with Epson’s advanced PrecisionCore technology and UltraChrome DS ink.
